  • Emma Jane Reed's birth location is said to be Magnolia, Rock County, Wisconsin in her obituary. However, the Reed Genealogy published in 1901 says that "the eldest child" of her parents, which was Emma, was born in Waukesha County, Wisconsin. All her siblings were born in Rock County. An account in 1913 by Emma's cousin Elisha Reed supports that she was born in Waukesha County as he relates how her father came to Wisconsin in the spring of 1845 and farmed at Waukesha County for a year before moving on to Rock County.
