  • Although some sources state that Richard was born in Pennsylvania, including early D.A.R. applications, it is now generally believed that he was born in Virginia. His current D.A.R. record notes that he was probably born in Southside, Virginia and resided in King George until at least 1833; he moved to Kentucky circa 1785 where he died and there is no evidendence he ever lived in Pennsylvania.
