    Andrew Jackson and Rachel (Donelson) Robards were married twice. Once in Natchez, Mississippi, and later in Nashville, Tennessee. There were questions regarding their first marriage as Rachel's divorce from Lewis Robards was never granted until 1794, and Natchez, Mississippi was under Spanish control at the time of their first marriage. Only Catholic marriages were recognized as legal in that territory while the Jackson's wedding was Protestant.
