  • BIOGRAPHY: Mayflower passenger

    BIRTH: In 1650 the Lincolnshire survey of crown lands determined that Francis Billington of New England, a secondary lessee, was "aged forty years or thereabouts" in the previous year, thus born circa 1609. In 1674 Francis Billington deposed that he was aged 68. - Taken from Mayflower Families 5 Generations Vol. 21.

    BIOGRAPHY: Early in January [1621], shortly after the settlement at Plymouth, son Francis Billington saw from the top of a tree on a high hill "a great sea as he thought" which he later explored with one of the ship's crew. The two lakes thus discovered have ever since been known as "Billington Sea." - Taken from Mayflower Families 5 Generations Vol. 21.
