- Notes:
The name of John Leavitt's first wife is often said to be Mary. However this is believed to be based on a Mary Lovett being admitted to the Dorchester church about 1638. However, the Leavitt family had moved to Hingham before this date so would not be the wife of John Leavitt. John Leavitt's first wife died in Hingham on 03 JUL 1646 and was buried there on 05 JUL 1646.
John Leavitt is listed in the probate inventory of his father-in-law Edward Gilman as given by Edward's wife Mary. Mary mentions "my son John Levite."
