    • His brother Isaac came over on the ship Lion in 1632. Abraham probably came on the ship also, but the earliest record of him is on a 1632 Cambridge list that is not chronologically accurate. So the first time we can be sure he was here was in 1635.

      The claim that the Morrill brothers came from Hatfield Broadoak, Essex, England and are the sons of Richard Morrill and Joan Childe are unproven. It originated with Charles Edward Banks in his Topographical Dictionary of 2885 English Emigrants to New England (p. 47) originally published in 1937 and then reprinted in 1957, which listed the brothers as being from Hatfield, Broadoak. Banks was generally good about listing his sources,  but he didn't list any for Abraham and Isaac Morrill. Since then people have claimed Abraham and Isaac Morrill are sons of Richard and Joan (Childe) Morrill without any evidence other than citing Banks. 

      Robert Charles Anderson, in his Great Migration Begins, Vol. 1 (pp. 1291-1292), speculated that the reason Banks made the connection is because Isaac Morrill, Abraham's brother, went to New England aboard the Lyon in 1632. Others on board were from Nazeing, Essex, England. Isaac and those from Nazeing settled together in Roxbury. So Banks may have assumed they were all from the same neighborhood in England. Hatfield Broadoak is only 13 miles from Nazeing. But there is no evidence that Isaac and Abraham are from Hatfield Broadoak, let alone sons of Richard and Joan (Childe) Morrill.
