- Notes:
There is debate as to the identity of William Ballard's wife Grace. Some claim she is the daughter of William Lovejoy, and sister of John Lovejoy, while others state she's the daughter of Thomas and Ann Berwick of Brisol, England. No evidence has been found to support the latter, while a convincing circumstantial case was presented in a 2009 NEHGS Register article (vol. 163, pp. 27-32).
The parish of Sonning was in both Berksfordshire and Oxfordshire.
