Masonic Hall, Ripon, Wis., March 9, 1868
Brother Billings: I am instructed by the Lodge (Ripon Lodge No. 95, F. and A. M.) to request you to advertise brother R. O. Selfridge as an imposter up the craft. He is an intemperate man, and has been living and drinking on Masonic charity about two years. I had a letter dated Feb. 24th, from brother A. H. Gardner, Master of Louisville Lodge, No. 400, Louisville, Ky., requesting information in regard to his standing in our Lodge, and whether he is entitled to the sympathy of the craft. He was suspended for non-payment of dues Dec. 11, 1866, and expelled Oct. 22d, 1867, for unmasonic conduct. Please enlighten the craft. Fraternally, W. Workman, Sec'y
Robert Selfridge was killed by the cars on the Missouri Pacific Railroad in 1873.
