    History of Androscoggin County, Maine, edited by Georgia Merrill (1891) states that Calvin Cowen "came from Brunswick."

    Calvin Cowing stated in his Revolutionary War pension application, dated 10 APR 1818, stated that he was 66 years old and born in Scituate, Massachusetts. In a letter regarding her widow's pension in 1860, Calvin's widow Dolly Woodward stated that Calvin died 16 FEB 1843. An auditor in 1860, gave his death date as 15 FEB 1844. However, the date on his tombstone is given as 11 FEB 1844.
