  • Recently I've seen different dates for Margaret's death depending on the source, but they all seem to place her death in 1849. Unfortunately her tombstone appears to be worn so that the date is illegible in pictures. However, Mollie (May) Leopard, a great-grandaughter who applied for membership in the DAR back around the turn of the 20th century gave her death as 02 JUL 1851. Many other applicants who followed also gave the date as 02 JUL 1851. I have not been able to find either Margaret or her husband Jeremiah Trout in the 1850 census. Jeremiah does show up without Margaret in the 1860 census. Since the tombstone was probably not as worn in 1900 as it is over 100 years later, I have to think the DAR applicants probably have the date correct.
