  • There is some issue as to whether or not Bridget's maiden name is Dunn or Grant/Granny. There is a 1904 death certificate that may be for this Bridget that states her parents are Daniel Dunn and Bridget Carney. However, death and marriage records for her children, Henry, Sarah, and William, indicate that her maiden name was Grant.

    Sometime about the turn of the century after 1900, families with the Granny surname in Donegal, Ireland, changed their names to Grant. The reason for this is not certain, but census evidence from 1900 and 1910 indicate that it did happen. Donegal birth records have been found for Henry, Sarah and William, listing their parents as Henry Doherty and Bridget Granny.
