  • Samuel Peck is said to have died from diptheria in Rochester, New York, shortly after his son Gregory was born. There has been some speculation online that Samuel drowned in the Erie Canal, but a newspaper from that time gives the name of the drowned man as Charles Peck and not Samuel. This appears to be a different man that drowned, but he could possibly be a relative.
