    In 1943, The American Genealogist published an article titled "Additions and Corrections to Austin's Genealogical Dictionary of Rhode Island" (20:53-54, 228) in which the author G. Andrews Moriarty states that Deliverance Palmer, wife of Edward Cleveland, was one of two daughters for George Palmer and Bethia Mowry, the other daughter being Hannah Palmer, wife of Nicholas Gardiner.

    In 1976, The American Genealogist published another article titled "Abigail Palmer vs Abigail Cleveland: Who Was the Wife of William Sherman" (52:30-31). This mentions the previous article regarding Deliverance's parentage and the author states the following adding some circumstantial evidence to support Moriarty, "Moriarty does not cite the evidence on which he based his correction but the names George, Hannah and Gardiner appear in the early generations descended from Edward Cleveland and Deliverance Palmer."  Keep in mind, Moriarty's correction would make Hannah Palmer the sister of Deliverance and Nicholas Gardiner her brother-in-law.

    In 1977, The American Genealogist published another article that still accepted Moriarty's correction giving George Palmer as the father of Deliverance (53:213). In 2002, Vermont Genealogy, a publication of the Genealogical Society of Vermont, published an article that also still accepted Moriarty's correction.
