  • Zechariah Field is said to have been born in East Ardley, Bradfordshire, England, the son of John Field and grandson of the English astronomer John Field. In May 1992 a marker was put up on his grave which also listed him as “grandson of Sir John Field, Astronomer.”. However, an article by Osgood Field in the New England Historical and Genealogical Register (1868, Vol. 22, pp. 166-173), argues against this being true. John, the alleged father of Zechariah Field, is said by Osgood Field to have died young.
