Rufus Cutler Dawes

Rufus Dawes was a Union Army officer during the U.S. Civil War. He participated in a number of battles during the war, but he is probably most notable for being a part of the Iron Brigade during the Battle of Gettysburg. He achieved the rank of Brevet Brigadier General after the war.
It is said that Rufus Dawes had no middle name but used a middle initial “R.”
