Published sources disagree as to whether Samuel Beardsley's father was William Beardsley or his brother Daniel Beardsley. Both had sons named Samuel of similar age. More recent publications agree with William as the father including Donald Line Jacobus in his History and Genealogy of the Families of Old Fairfield. In either case, Samuel is the grandson of Samuel Beardsley and Abigail Clark.
