Walter and Trial Power were convicted of fornication "by them committed together before marriage." He was sentenced to be "openly whipped with 15 stripes" and to pay a fine of 50 shillings for his wife or else "she to be whipped also." His father-in-law Ralph Shepard appeared in court to pay the fine for him.
