  • Helen Aline Brownell was adopted as noted by her father in the Brownell Genealogy he prepared in 1916. Her California death certificate gives her mother's maiden name as Badger possibly providing a clue as to her birth mother. However, it applies this name to her father's first wife Angeline Wetherbee.

    Helen's father gives her birth date as JAN 1871. The lack of an exact date may indicate he didn't know it. Other sources give her date as 01 JAN 1870.
