    • Gary Boyd Roberts in Notable Kin, Volume One (p. 63) states that Mary Basset is a sister to Catherine Basset, daughter of Sir Thomas Bassett and Margaret Meering. The visitations of Nottingham in the years 1569 and 1614 (p. 42) would seem to confirm with a pedigree showing an unnamed daughter of Thomas Bassett and Margaret Meering having married an unnamed Beaumont from Cold Orton. However, other sources show that Mary Bassett is the daughter of Sir William Bassett of Blore.
