John Proctor was accused of witchcraft in 1692. His wife Elizabeth (Bassett) Proctor had also been accused of witchcraft a short time before him. Both were convicted and sentenced to die at the Salem Witch Trials. However, Elizabeth was pregnant and had her sentence postponed until after the baby was born. John was hanged on 19 AUG 1692. Elizabeth was eventually given a reprieve and was not executed.
