- Richard Barnard is said to have came to America with William Penn in 1682. The minutes of a meeting at Chippenham Meeting House on 21 AUG 1682 in Wiltshire, England has the following statement: "This meeting agreeth that John Sparrow and other Friends of Chippenham, do give Richard Barnett [Barnard] (now going to Pennsylvania) the sum of tenn shillings."
