  • There are many printed sources that state that the William Lee who married Dorothy Taylor is the grandson of Col. Richard Lee and kin to General Robert E. Lee. As William and Dorothy (Taylor) Lee are ancestors of President Abraham Lincoln, this would make President Lincoln and General Lee cousins through Lincoln's Hanks-Lee ancestors. However, this has been proven to be false (see sources on this website for William and Dorothy Lee) and there is no connection possible through the Lee family.
