There has been some debate as to who was Daniel Buck's wife. Looking at vital records, there appears to be two possibilities:
Mercy Freeman Hayford, daughter of Samuel and Rebecca (Waterman) Hayford, baptized at the Second Church of Christ at Pembroke, Massachusetts 14 NOV 1762.
Mary Hayford, daughter of Webster and Mary (Bonney) Hayford, baptized at the Second Church of Christ at Pembroke, Massachusetts 16 NOV 1760.
As the published History of the Hayford Family points out, the two women were first cousins since both Samuel and Webster Hayford were sons of Daniel and Deliverance (Boles) Hayford. So, if you only looked at marriage records, you would find the following:
Mercy Hayford married Silas Wright at Hardwick, Massachusetts 15 FEB 1781.
Mary Hayford married Daniel Buck shortly after 08 APR 1782 (date of the intention at Chesterfield, Massachusetts).
Assuming the names are correct, Mary vs. Mercy, you would come to the conclusion that Daniel Buck married Mary Hayford, daughter of Webster and Mary (Bonney) Hayford. But since Mary and Mercy are often found interchangeable, you would like to find something to help confirm this even if it is only circumstantial.
One piece of circumstantial evidence that points to this being correct is that Daniel and Mary (Hayford) Buck named a son Webster who was baptized at the at Chesterfield 01 MAR 1785.
Finally, the Mayflower Society has accepted the following lineage as valid for a descent from Mayflower passenger William Bradford:
1. William Bradford (Mayflower passenger), 2. William Bradford, 3. John Bradford, 4. Mercy (Bradford) Freeman, 5. Mercy (Freeman) Waterman, 6. Rebecca (Waterman) Hayford, 7. Mercy Freeman (Hayford) Wright (wife of Silas Wright), 8. Bathsheba Wright . . .
So that should pretty much answer the question. Daniel Buck's wife was Mary Hayford, daughter of Webster and Mary (Bonney) Hayford.
