Revolutionary War veteran
John Cuppy was said to be an Indian scout in Capt. Brady's company in Gen. Wayne's army from 1790 to 1794. His daughter referred to his service as a "ranger or spy for the space of two years or upwards . . . in or about the years A.D. 1792 and 1793."
John Cuppy's birth date and location come from his 1844 Revolutionary War pension application. The pension application states his birth date is in a family bible of his father, that was then in his possession. The marriage date of John's marriage to Lydia is given as 07 OCT 1824 in a certified copy provided to a probate judge and contained within the pension file. This document gives Lydia's last name as Russell.
