- Notes:
Charity is said to be the daughter of Benjamin and Ruth (Spencer) Denslow. Evidence is needed to support this claim. An article in the New York Genealogical and Biographical Record about the Denslow Family in America does not list Charity as one of their children. However, only four children were listed so it is likely that there were more.
There is circumstantial evidence supporting Charity being the daughter of Benjamin and Ruth (Spencer) Denslow. The first is that Charity, and her husband James Jocelyn, named a son Denslow Jocelyn (b.c. 1832). Also, Benjamin appears in Litchfield, Herkimer County, New York in both the 1810 and 1820 U.S. federal census. In both census there is a female child the right age for Charity in his household. Also, the 1855 New York state census gives Charity's birth location as Herkimer County, New York.
