Famous Kin and Family Trees of Great Migration Immigrant Ancestors
The Great Migration includes immigrants to New England who arrived between the Mayflower in 1620 and the beginning of the English Civil War in 1640. The first wave of immigrants consisted largely of Puritans, who left England in search of religious freedom and established the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1630. Over the next few decades, thousands of people from England, Scotland, and other parts of Europe made the journey to New England, bringing with them their skills, customs, and cultures. The immigrants played a key role in shaping American society and politics, and many of their descendants went on to play important roles in the American Revolution and the formation of the United States.
This category is based on The Great Migration Directory: Immigrants to New England, 1620-1640, A Concise Compendium by Robert Charles Anderson. This category is a work in progress and only those immigrants with known famous descendants or kin are included.
