  • Eldridge Nichols is almost certainly the son of John Nichols and Roba Taber of Camillus, New York, and a grandson of Esek Taber and Roba Brown. He named a son Esek Tabor Nichols after his grandfather. He also was a native of New York who settled in Kirtland, Ohio, only about three miles from his sister Catherine (Taber) Talbott who had settled in Mentor, Ohio. Also, his mother Rota (Taber) Nichols followed her children to Ohio and can be found in her daughter's household at Mentor in the 1850 U. S. census.
