- Notes:
Some publications give Joseph Leonard's father as Jacob Leonard. However, he is not listed in Jacob's will. The Mayflower Society's silver book for the descendants of Mayflower passenger James Chilton states that Joseph is the son of John Leonard. (see Mayflower Families for Five Generations, vol. 15 (2013), pp. 59-60)
The book also states that there has been no proof found for his three children, Joseph, Ephraim and Martha. These children are mentioned only in publications that did not cite evidence. It has been reported that the Mayflower Society, as of 1991, no longer accepts descents through Joseph Leonard. (see also The Mayflower Descendant, 41:8)
