- Notes:
The probate file for Asa Swan's father Jabez identifies Asa in the account papers as "the fourth son."
The marriage of Asa Swan to Sophia Ely appears to have occurred shortly before 02 DEC 1812. The marriage was announced in various Connecticut newspapers between 02 DEC 1812 and 09 DEC 1812. The earliest occurrance appears to have been in the Connecticut Gazette in New London stating the marriage took place at East Haddam. Since the marriage took place in another town, it probably didn't occur on 02 DEC as is occasionally cited by other researchers.
