- Notes:
John Lovejoy is often claimed to be the son of Rowland Lovejoy of London. However, no evidence has ever been presented to link the two as father and son other than Rowland Lovejoy did have a son named John Lovejoy who was of the right age. However, a convincing circumstantial case has been made to suggest that John Lovejoy was baptized in 1622 at Caversham, Oxfordshire, the son of a William Lovejoy.
