William Mefford was a sailor. He served aboard the ship Philadelphia and was captured by the British 21 APR 1782. He was taken to "Barbados and Antiga" and imprisoned until 05 FEB 1783 at which time he was exchanged. He then served aboard a privateer schooner at Annapolis from 17 MAR 1783 to 31 APR 1783.
His Revolutionary War pension was rejected with the reason that he did not serve for 6 months in a military capacity.
