Joseph H. Reed (Ahnentafel No:4 )
- Notes:
Rev. Joseph H. Reed was a Methodist minister and a member of the Illinois State Legislature. He was instrumental in the creation of Richland County, Illinois, which was named after the county of the same name in Ohio from which the Rev. Reed had emigrated.
Joseph Reed was a private in the Maryland Militia during the War of 1812.
Although a veteran's headstone was placed on Joseph Reed's grave giving his date of death as 27 DEC 1847, this cannot be correct as a death notice appeared on 10 DEC 1847 announcing his death earlier that year on 27 FEB 1847. It would appear that the person ordering the headstone erred on the date of death.
Family bible of father Charles Reed gives Joseph Reed's birth year as 1792 while his tombstone (created much later) gives the year as 1793.
