Almina Wombell's full name is Almina Victoria Maria Alexandra Wombwell.
Almina's birth certificate gives her father as her mother's husband Frederick C. Wobwell. However, she is said to be the biological daughter of banker Alfred de Rothschild and he acted as such. Her name is said to be a combination of "Al" and "Mina" after her parents. When Almina married George Herbert to become the Countess of Carnarvon, Alfred provided a £500,000 dowry. It has also been said that Alfred was homosexual and that he encouraged an illusion of being Almina's father in order to appear heterosexual.
