NBA Player, Coach and Executive
Danny Ainge is a former NBA player and coach, born on March 17, 1959, in Eugene, Oregon. Ainge played basketball at Brigham Young University, where he was named an All-American in 1981. He was then drafted by the Boston Celtics in the second round of the 1981 NBA draft.
During his playing career, Ainge played for several teams, including the Celtics, the Sacramento Kings, the Portland Trail Blazers, and the Phoenix Suns. He won two NBA championships with the Celtics in 1984 and 1986.
After retiring from playing in 1995, Ainge went on to become a successful executive and coach in the NBA. He was the head coach of the Phoenix Suns from 1996 to 1999, and then became the executive director of basketball operations for the Celtics in 2003.
In his role as an executive, Ainge was responsible for rebuilding the Celtics into a championship contender. He made several key trades and draft picks that helped the team win the NBA championship in 2008.
