    • Timothy Bush is believed to be an illegitimate son of Mary (Fairbanks) Bush, the widow of Richard Bush who died in 1732. Although no birth records have ever been found for Timothy Bush, a family bible listed his death in 1815 at the age of 80. This would place his birth about 1735 which is 2-3 years after Richard Bush's death.

      Also the Bristol County (Mass.) Court of General Session file for April 1734 has an entry that states "Mary Bush of Bristol, widow, for the sin of fornication for having a bastard born of her body the latter end of March last past," and later on Oct. 1736 "Mary Bush of Bristol for having a bastard child, to be whipped and pay cost of prosecution." Mary Bush also had a child who died at Bristol on 18 January 1734/35. The belief is that the deceased child was the bastard child born in 1734 and that Timothy was the second bastard child born about 1735.

      Timothy Bush also named one of his sons Fairbanks Bush which supports the conclusion that he is the son of Mary (Fairbanks) Bush.
