- Notes:
Mary Jordan immigrated to New England with her parents and were called "Redemptioners." These were a class of immigrants who mortgaged their services to pay for their passage. The commander of the ship they sailed on was James Rogers. He is said to have "bought" Mary from her parents and married her. It is said that he later was "accustomed to say" that her family was "the richest cargo he ever shipped and the purchase of Mary was the best bargain he ever made."
