    Charles Halsey was killed when he fell from a fourth floor window. He was visiting a new building being erected and adjoining the Everett House on Union Square. While looking through the opening of the large central windows, he lost his balance and plummeted to the ground some 60 feet below. He never spoke after the fall and died less than a half hour later.
