    • 41st Vice-President of the United State and 49th Governor of New York

After Nelson Rockefeller's death, newspaper articles and his tombstone all stated that he was born in Bar Harbor, Maine. Wikipedia and many online genealogies have continued to state this. However, the Rockefeller Genealogy published by Henry O. Rockefeller while Nelson Rockefeller was still living stated Nelson was born in New York City. Census records also give New York as his birthplace. Nelson Rockefeller himself cleared up the issue by giving the following statement on his application for membership in the Sons of the American Revolution, “I was born in New York, County of New York, State of New York, on the 8th day of July 1908.”
