  • David Soper and Polly Luther were married in 1807 by Nathaniel Allen. The bride was of Lucerne County. It is said that Nathaniel Allen recognized that he had no authority to marry outside of Lycoming County, so the wedding party got into sleighs and crossed the county line where they were married in the woods.
