    • In 1995, Gary Boyd Roberts stated in his book Ancestors of American Presidents (p. 108) that genealogist David A. Baker "speculates Rachel could [their italics, not mine] be a daughter (more research in N.Y. and Conn. is needed) [their parentheses, not mine] of David Seymour (1750-post 1796) & Achsah Welton (1754-post 1796) of Waterbury, Conn. & Chenango, Tioga Co., N.Y."

      However, in an article titled "Further Addition and (a few) Corrections to Ancestors of American Presidents" (2004, vol. 5, no. 5, p. 41), Gary Boyd Roberts wrote the following, "David A. Baker and Dr. Lee Kraft of Laguna Beach, Calif. report the Ford ancestor #27 was indeed Rachel Seymour (wife of Jesse Miller, Jr.), but a daughter not, as David thought and I reported in 1995, of David Seymour and Achsah Welton, but of Revolutionary War ensign Jesse Seymour (bp. New Canaan, Conn. 30 June 1754, d. Brewster, N.Y. ca. 1829, m. ca. 1773) and Mercy Fancher (bp. Stamford, Conn. 15 Oct. 1752, d. April 1839)."

      In the 2009 edition of Ancestors of American Presidents (p. 157), Gary Boyd Roberts lists Jesse Seymour and Mercy Fancher as "very likely" the parents of Rachel.
