    • John Stebbins is said to have been the only man known to have escaped unhurt from the Battle of Bloody Brook in 1675.

      John Stebbins had his house burned and his entire family taken prisoner during the Deerfield Massacre on 29 FEB 1703/4. He, his wife and son John are the only ones known to have returned . His other children never made it back from Canada.
