Benjamin Tukey was killed during the Revolutionary War. After the British surrender at Saratoga, the American patriots became over zealous in their celebrations and as a result, Benjamin Tukey's arm was blown off at the shoulder on 20 OCT 1770 by a cannon that exploded while he was loading it on Congress Street, near Mrs. Greeley's tavern.
