Donald Edwin King was born as Donald Pollack. His father died when he was young and his mother was remarried to Victor Szczepanski (aka Spanski).
On 18 MAR 1925 the Logansport Press reported that Donald Pollack and Betty Pollack along with their mother and step-father Mr. and Mrs. Szczepanksi visited their grandparents Mr. and Mrs. William Bowden for a few days. While there his grandparents threw Donald an 11th birthday party that was attended by 30 children.
In the 1930 census Donald was living with his mother and step-father but he and his sister Betty still appear with the name Pollock. Sometime later Donald changed his surname to King. He was a magazine salesman in 1940 living in Chicago. He would eventually retire as a retired merchant sea captain.
