  • Some sources incorrectly give 28 JUN 1886 as the date of Enoch Bowden's death. This was the date of his funeral.

    On the PBS show Finding Your Roots, it was said that Enoch Bowden left Tennessee because of his moral objections to slavery.

    Although Enoch Bowden's obituary says he was born in the state of Tennessee, he was actually born in North Carolina as consistently indicated by census records.
