    • Notes:
    • Rolle Flowers's given name is also seen as Raleigh and Riley.

Rolle would appear to be an illegitimate son of rather young parents.

Rolle Flowers changed his given name to Raliegh after arriving in the United States in 1917. His wife referred to him as Riley after his death.

According to the PBS episode of Finding Your Roots where the ancestry of actress Tamera Mowry is featured, her ancestor Rolle Flowers is shown to be the son of Joshua Cuthbert Flowers and Christiana Monica Hall. However, this alleged relationship does have its red flags. First, Rolle Flowers was born in 1878 on Andros Island in the Bahamas. His alleged mother and father were about 15 and 16 years of age at the time and they wouldn't be married until 17 years later in 1895. Joshua and Christiana had children whose births were recorded between 1897 and 1905. That leaves a 19 year gap between Rolle Flowers and his next known sibling. While it isn't impossible that Rolle was an illegitimate child of the young teenagers, it does add some doubt to his parentage. However, his name of Rolle Flowers does lend support to the idea that he is a grandchild of John Flowers and Margaret Rolle, Joshua's parents. Perhaps Rolle is the son of a brother of Joshua. It would seem that more evidence is needed to confirm the parentage claimed on Finding Your Roots.
