  • After the death of her father, Asenath Lumbart's grandfather Samuel Linnel was appointed her guardian in 1783.

    "To Samuel Linnel of Barnstable . . . appoint you to be Guardian unto Asena Lumbart a minor daughter of Joseph Lumbart late of Barnstable in said county Deceased."

    Her step-mother Sarah was appointed the guardian of her half siblings Phebe and Mary Davis. Asenath took the surname of her grandfather and was married under the name Asenath Linnel. She was mentioned as a granddaughter in her grandfather's will, and her husband Sherabeah Clark was the executor of his estate.
