Thurza Howard's given name is also seen as Thyrza and Theresa.
Thurza is said to have gotten sick and died in Tennessee during a wagon train trip from North Carolina to Missouri sometime in 1834. Evidence is needed to confirm this. Her husband Elisha remarried in 1837 which supports the story that she died during the trip west.
