  • The children of James and Deborah (Dean) Tisdale were determined partly from the North Carolina estate papers of granddaughter Caroline M. Tisdale, daughter of Barney Tisdale. Although the estate papers are in North Carolina, Caroline died in Massachusetts. The estate papers identified a number of “first and second cousins - the children and grandchildren of her paternal aunts and uncles who are deceased.” These estate papers were used to help determine the brothers and sisters of her father.

    Lucy E. Tisdale, mentioned in the estate papers and granddaughter of Caroline's uncle James Tisdale, provided the link to James and Deborah (Dean) Tisdale when she donated portraits and pictures of her sister Annie Louise Tisdale, herself, her parents, her grandparents and her great-grandparents to the Old Colony Historical Society in Taunton.

    The book Genealogy of Col. Israel Tisdale also connects this James Tisdale with his sons James and Barney, and Barney's son Samuel Trescott Tisdale.
