The transcribed marriage record for William and Sarah Speck gives Sarah's maiden name as Crook while the published history of Henderson County, Illinois, gives it as Rice. Since published county histories are notoriously wrong, it is currently assumed that the mistake lies there. However, the original record is said to be in the County Court Records at Williamsport, Indiana. The original should be examined to rule out a transcription error.
