    • Some recent sources list Lydia Cline as the wife of Fielding Adams. They appear to have merged two wives of Fielding Adams into a single person. His first wife was Mildred Cline as indicated on the birth record of his daughter Edwina who was born in 1854. His grandson Cline Adams also listed Cline as his grandmother's maiden name on his father John T. Adam's death certificate. Fielding's second wife Lydia was only 13 when his John was born, so she obviously is not his mother.

      His wife Mildred and his daughter Edwina must have both died between 1854 and 1860. They do not appear the Fielding Adams and his son John in the 1860 census. He must have married Lydia after that time as she does not appear either. However, there is an Elizabeth Adams, aged about 67 and born in Virginia, who is living with them. Is she Fielding Adams's mother? She is living with Amanda (Adams) Lane, aged about 48, in 1870. Amanda was the wife of William Lane. Is Amanda the sister of Fielding Adams?
